Beyond Borders

This series began as an adaptation to the change in collective circumstances brought by the restrictions of Covid-19. The sudden substitution of physical into virtual socialization was symptomatic of what I saw as a “flattening phenomena”, due to the loss of dimensional perspective of reality by a reality mediated by screens of technology devices. In this sense, the landscape as we knew, be it natural or urban, was replaced by portraits of people that took over apps and social platforms. Beyond Borders was therefore an attempt to transform portraits into natural landscapes, by abstracting facial lines and redefining color tones into color zones, with specific color palette for each person portrayed.
